How do I narigate?

I love walking trips. I often get questions of how I navigate without seeing. I usually walk roads I know. When I do this I use certain points on the road as signs. When I get to a spesific point I know where I am and how I should turn.

If I walk places I'm not sure where I am I need to either bring someone who knows the way or I have to ask people where I am and which direction I should walk. It's rare I walk places I'm not sure where to walk. If I have to walk somewhere unknown to me I always try to bring someone else.

It happens from time to time, when I'm walking roads known to me, that I choose to try other roads. This is a bit of gambling. It is a huge help to me knowing how to use echo locating. This is similar to how bats navigate at night. I eithe make clicking noises with my mout, by snapping my fingers or when my cane hits the ground. I often use the sounds from the surrounding area.

This is a skill I thaught myself. It's inspired by hearing about other people being abke to use it, as well as the fictional character Daredevil. I started trying to figure out how to do this when I started losing my sight. It took me some years to really being able to use this, but I think that is much due to me having to figure out how to practice.

I have now created an introductionary course in how to learn this ability. In this course I talk about how I started and how I use it. We also do different exercises to show people how to practice and how it can be used. I'm not trying to say I'm a genious for creating this course, because I now know there are other people teaching similar courses. I've never attended one of these, but it would be fun.

Bullied for a lomg time

I was bullied. All through all 10 years of elementary school and all through high school. I was bullied by the cool kids, my friends and the other kids. I was bullied because I was a nerd,my red hair, freckles, my taste of music, the fact I was unable to roll the r’s when speeking. I was not an athletic kid and I was not good at the creative subjects. I was also bullied for being diabetic and when I started losing my sight I was bullied for this as well. Ever since I was a young kid I have had thoughts about death. I was not sure if my life was worth living. I was bullied at school, in my spare time and when the internet was getting common I was bullied there as well. It got so bad we went to the police with links, pictures and pages, all of hurtfull, bullying comments. We never heard anything from the police. This made me question if I had any worth in the world. I thought to myself «The police helps people that’s worth something, so I’m not. I started eating to not feel sad....

Are you prepared to support?

When you have a friend who is sad or depressed it is easy to say that you are there for them. This might be something you say just to comfort them and it might work! But are you prepared if they try to talk to you about what's on their mind? Having a friend who struggles is not easy. You have an important role to either play or pass. Not everyone is emotionally ready to take that role. However if you choose to say that you're there for your friend, you should be ready. It is terrible if your friend has told you you can talk to them, just to meet someone who shows no interest or someone who talks about your problems like if they were insignificant.  You might be in for a ride. They might be really happy, one moment and suicidal the next. Show you want to hear what they have to say. Don't say things like you've been in a worse place, had worse times or like you know exactly how they feel or how it is to be them. These things may lead to your friend not feeling ...
